Todd Quigley – Owner / Shaper

Growing up in the idyllic seaside town of Terrigal, on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Todd was first given a bodyboard for Christmas at age 12.

In 1997, at just 17 years of age, Todd took a junior position at the local Mez Boards bodyboard factory. Initially starting out in the prep stages of the production line, Nick Mesritz spotted real shaping potential in his young charge and as a result, Todd was given expert tuition in the finer points of both bodyboard shaping and construction techniques. By 1999, his apprenticeship was complete and Todd took over from Mez as the head shaper for Toobs, Odyssey Customs and the soon to be created 4Play brand.

Over a 6 year period Todd went on to shape thousands of boards for riders of all levels, including the elite 4Play team, 2 World champions, numerous Australian champions and hundreds of local chargers alike. Each and everyone of these riders pushed Todd’s shaping skills to the limit and helped define high performance bodyboard design.

Regarded as the world’s best shaper by his peers in the 2001 and 2002 Riptide Magazine Peer Poll, Todd was ready to take the next step and open his own factory. Opened in 2004, QCD is the realization of Todd’s vision and an investment in his own ability. With each board now bearing his name, a QCD custom represents Todd’s commitment to shaping the finest high performance boards available.

“It’s been 10 years now since I started QCD and I am stoked at what I have achieved with it. QCD is regarded as one of the premium brands in the world and my goal over the next 5 years is to take my 17 years shaping experience to another level with high-end stock boards and the best custom boards money can buy.”
